I have chosen Malik because i found interesting what he said. For example, when he said that they were in class talking about Huckleberry Finn, and the people looked at him for seeing his reaction. He said that it was upset to live in a world where his mum has to be afraid when he walked outside, because he would probably suffered an act of racism. He thinks that they dont have the same chances than other people. His dad told him that he had to watch out, he didnt want him to live in fear, he just want Malik to be aware about the society they live in. What i like the most, is that parents tried to explain to them that they are not different, which i saw it in other people situations from the video.

In the second video there is a man that said that he has refused to many things of his culture which he have grown up with. At school, he wanted to talk as his american friends did, to wear like them too. He wanted to be like them, listen to the same music... because it was a shameful situation. This shows the influence that society has on us, such an influence to be ashamed of our own culture.

It impressed to me the situation that a mother from the video explained. One of her daughters is lighter than the other, which turned into a racism situation between them. The older one told her young sister that she was black and something more about her hair. The mother cried and finally she had to explain to them about their roots...I found this a very strange situation as they are sisters, which shows that racism is everywhere.

Of the video about black racism I have chosen Miles, a boy who is 13 years old. I like him becasuse he said a definition about racism very interesting, "it's like a large part of a race, feels like there is a period to another race". Also he tells us a story that happened to him when he was comming home with a white girl, she saw a group of black people, so she decided to not to go with Miles. Things like that happen everyb day, and is our responsability to change this.
Of the other video I have chosen the boy from Colombia. People treated him as if he was from US, but when he says his name or talks Spanish they change their minds and treated him different. He's proud of his nationality and doesn't thing he is better just because he is white and has green eyes. I like him because hi isn't the typical Latino, he could said he's from US and he wouldn't suffer from racism, but he's proud of being Latino and he doesn't want to hide it.
Finally a mother that has 2 daughters. One of them has the skin lighter than the other one, the fact she offended his sister shows the level of racism in US today. If this happen at home,it makes me think how much do the suffer in schools, in the streets....We're not doing anything to change this situation, not with black people and not with Latinos.

I've chosen Shaquille because some of his words impacted a lot to me. He said that some days he had to change his sidewalk because the White woman that was walking in the same has him felt nervous and he did not wanted to anoy her walk.
He also tell that he don't felt free in the United States.

I choose Maddox also, a Little boy that says that he wants to tell the world that he is a good guy, he does not want to make bad things or hurt the people.

And, form the latino's video, I've chosen the Mexican man. He say that when he was gettin in the culture of the United States he had to renounce to some of the things he grew up with, because tought he felt embarassed with it or like a kind of obstacle.

The first person I choose is Malik, because at first he talks about one of his experiences, in which he was in class, reading Huckleberry Finn and when the word "nigger" appeared, everybody looked at him waiting for his reaction. He later talks about the fear his mother has when he walks outside because of policemen, who are "hunting" black people instead of protecting them.

The second one I choose is Bisa, because he told his story in which he went out with his brother and they were stopped by the police rather aggressively, something that wouldn't happen to a white man.

The last one I choose is Carlos, from the Latinos' video, because he says that people see you in a different way depending on the colour of your skin. If you're lighter, you're supreme and if you're darker, you're less then. He also says that people's perfect prototype is that of a white man:tall, blond, blue or green eyes, etc.

Both videos were very thought-provoking as they spoke about diferent problems that had happened to many people, but leastening to them is harder than just konwing about it.
In the first video,Malik spoke about being in class. They read books of black people and everybody was looking at him.His mum, also feels afraid many times of being black,so he feels bad about it, and I really believe that´s a huge problem. He also said that black people don´t get as much chances as White people, something that shouldn´t be like that. His dad doesn´t want him to live in fear, but that he is aware.
In Jumoke´s story is also quite hard to imagine been on his skin. His family thought his friends should protect him,but he´s seeing the oposit. He even said 'How can I not be afraid when I feel like I´m being hunted' this words had made me think on how people can suffer even if we don´t notice it.
Finally,in the second video, there were some different Latinos speaking about their life experiences. The blue eyes boy, explained that even if they are latin, they also have a history were many people from Africa or Europe emigrate to their countries,as well as it had happend in America.people sees him as White in same cases, depending on who he is with or the language he is speking. When he looks for work and gives his name,as he is latino, they never call him back. People´s believing that the lighter your skin is,the better you will be in society,as having a light skin or light eyes looks like a priviledge for them.

The first boy I choose, is Malik, because he told his own experience, in his school. He get impressed of the reaction of their classmates when they where reading Huckleberry Finn.
I also choose Madox words, because its seems realy naive and in little express a lot, he is a realy young boy, that say that he is like other peoble.
And finally, of the last video, I have choose I women that explains how they qualify her through 3 different terms. She is American (beacuase she lives in America), black and latina. It doesn´t matter where she came from.

The first person i choose is spic because i understand what he is talking about and that happens when you come from other country that people will always ask you to talk and to laugh at what you say even if they understand it

then from the video of growing up black first i choose Malik because i feel identified with him because since i entered highschool this is the first year with someone black in class and for example i had that uncomfotable moment in social sciences when they mention black people everyone to look at you to see if you feel offended of hearing the word slave or black.

and the last one is shaquille because recently in christmas i was walking with a black friend and the same thing shaquille said happened to us but instead that we change of street the two ladies did but they did it running because they thought we were going to rob them or something

The first person I chose is the one that appears the first one in the second video but the second time that he speaks is the one I like because he speaks about trying to be like his friends, speak like them, and all that things, for that he gave up a lot of things from his past, the things he grew up for only be like his friends, that was because he thought that kind of things were rare, that type of behavior is the consequence of racism from my point of view.

The second person is Jumoke from the first video, the first thing he says shows the racism and how the police react with a black men and how they react with a white men, the police preferred to take Jumoke only for passing from one building to the other one while his white classmates were doing the same, I think this is a good example of racism.

The third person is Rakesh from the first video the second time he speaks, I think that he is totally correct what he says about not only judge you from the kind of race you are, the thing to judge is how I am and what type of person I am, not only because I am black, I think this idea is the way a white person judge a black one, thinking bad about him only because he is black.

Unknown dijo...

The first one I have chosen is one from the Latino's video, the firts men, the Mexican man, I have chosen him because he had to renounce the things he grew up and he change his way of clothing to be like his friends and he also want to speak like they do.

The second one I have chosen is Jumoke that one day have a problem with the police beacuse when we was changing from one building to another whit the white men of his class the police chosen just because he was black and to the white men nothig happen to them.

The third one is Malik, I have chosen him because one day when he was in the class reading a book the word "nigger" appear ad all the class look at him for his reaction.

All these are examples of discrimination to the other people of diferent colour

The three videos make me think a lot about our society nowadays because there is still racism eventhough we evolved and that is something inmoral. These videos show us that the black people or the brown people are not the responsible for this racism. The responsability for this distinction is ours, the white people. We went years ago to colonize territories that weren't ours. Only because those colour people were not evolved, we decided to colonise them and made their lives a nightmare. We decided to tell the world that they were inferior, but as every man, woman or kid they wanted freedom and rights. So they fought for them, they sometimes need to fight for them in their actual lives, because there is still people with this mentality of superiority that was typical two, three, four or more centuries ago. The colour people don't need to feel unconfortable when they are on the street or in class. I think that we should look at them as our equals and not as an inferior race.

In general, my opinion about racism nowadays is that it still happens but it is hidden as it is in our minds, through steryotipes, and not something so physical as before. Some good examples showed in the videos are, for example, a father who has difficulties to bring up his children in the south of EEUU or the guy who tells that when the people heared his latin name in a call, they didn't call you back again. I think that any person should be treated like that.

Unknown dijo...

I think that racism is still very present in our daily life.People judge them ignoring their full humanity and uniqueness that everyone has.The examples that I liked the most were the ones given by Miles. He is a 13 year old kid that experiences every day the superiority of white kids and obviously this makes him feel bad. He wants freedom like all the rest.
Then, talking about the other video, it makes me very sad that latinos can´t speak their own language because they have to adapt to americans culture. The society should change their point of view of this racial stereotypes because it really harms people.

Hi,I am going to talk about racism. I think that the racism nowadays is still there, sometimes we dont realize that we are acting in a racist way, because we have grown hearing that stereotypes. So these videos shows us some examples of racist situations. In the first video, one of the situation that they explain, is the one of a boy who has had to cross to the other street beacuse a woman was scared of him due to fact he was black or another boy who has seen lots of times people that have grabbed their bags when he has passed by their side. Then, in the second video, one of the examples that has impacted me more is the boy that sais that he had to renounce to lots of things of his culture, because he was embarrassed, he thought it was like something bad.
I feel bad about all these racist situations that are still happening, we should join all together, learn about the differences of each person and culture and we should stop thinking that being different is something bad.

These three videos make me feel sad and thoughtful about how our society deals with people nowadays. It´s sad how black people and latinos have to change their way of doing their rutine, culture, language and even clothes or aspect in order to satisfy or adapt to the stereotypes of the contry they live in. People should learn and know that all of us have differences, equality and freedom to express how we really are. Racism is not usually seen a lot everyday, but we should continue supporting those people who suffer from it and helping them so we can erradicate racism.

Carmen dijo...

In the video about a son that is asking a few questions to his dad, I think that it tries to show us how sometimes some parents feel weird about telling their kids the real situation maybe it is bad economic situation or because, as in this case, they can suffer from rejection in society. I think that the father is doing a good job by telling the boy in a soft way what is happening. The answers of the father are soft and direct. He tries not to say anything that then could affect his kid attitude. The father talks to his son about racism using several expression or important people. For example Martin Luther King by fighting for everyones rights. Or the expression live out your dreams. From my point of view I think that the father tries to told his child to live his life with his goals and also to fight for everyones rights doesn't matter the race.

Well in my opinion this issue is still really present nowadays, but we don't realized and we don't care so much about it. People still judge them just because of their color even without knowing them. In these videos we have seen some examples such as the first boy, Malik that have told about a moment in class where he was the only black boy and everyone looked at him while they were reading Huckleberry Finn, maybe his classmates didn't do it on purpose, but these are little details that make people feel different or inferior. In the second video we can see how latinos can't be how they really are, and they have to change their way of speaking, culture, clothes...
I think this is a really sad situation that can only be changed by us, and by the society as black people are just like us, so we have to end up with with that stereotypes that makes them feel different.

Racism is an incredibly present and important issue at nowadays society, we think that we don't act as racist but this is not really true, we have many expressions in our language and we many times act as racists without realizing.

After hearing the interview I have perceived that this people suffer it everyday, for example one phrase that one boy said was "how am I going to live free if I feel that I am going to be hunted?".In my opinion, in the 21st century, is unacceptable that a person because of it´s color of skin needs to be afraid of living.

On the other video we have seen the case of the latinos that live in USA that were forced by the North-American society to forget about their past, their culture and to act, talk and even listen to music as if they were born there.

It's shameful that this things happen , and it's about time we start to respect each other and forget about colors or origins and just look at people as if they were just people.

Racism is an issue that, even though we already think is almost over, it's not. It's very far from being over. These videos show people trying to put us on their shoes and make us understand how they feel daily. We still make some comments and act in specific ways that hurt these people without even realizing it. It makes me sad and frustrated to think that these things are still going on when we're living in such an advanced time.

From the black people's video I chose Malik and Bisa, because I found their stories interesting and they are two of the youngest ones and I want to outstand how they have to cope with these issues since young ages. From Bisa we learn that discrimination because of the color of their skin in class is still there as well as the use of the, how he calls it,''magic word'', which makes he feel uncomfortable and makes him wish these situations didn't happen. Malik tells us how, at just the age of 16, he suffered from police racist violence.

Then there's the latinos video. In this, they still talk about racism, but being latino is a little bit different. They are discriminated because their identity is still not fully understood and recognized and there are still debates on who belongs and who doesn't to this group. Sometimes they're considered ''not too white'' or ''not to black''. From the latinos I chose the mother because I found it sad that there are cases of racism in their own families even though they're all black just because one of her daughters had a little bit lighter skin, which confronted each other. I also chose the one with lighter skin and eye color because I liked the fact that even though he's latino, he's acknowledging the fact that he benefits from white skin privilege and sometimes people like him perpetuate to white supremacy.

We live in a society that´s used to judge people by their appearance, by the colour of their skin or by their family roots. I think, everyone should watch these videos. Racism is such an issue that affects so much people nowadays, that needs to be eradicated instantly. Jumoke, a guy from the first video, said that he has been stopped by the police several times because of the color of his skin. Another guy from the video said that once he had to cross the street because of a scared white woman.Among the latinos there´s this mother that said that there were problems among her two daughters because their skin color was different. And this joins with the fact that some latinos want to be white. This is because, as the white latino said, the white people are more privileged. He also said that as he has a white appearance, he is considered as a white person, and so he benefits from their rights and privileges.

I think that racism is all over the world. It has been here since many years ago, and although now It´s almost over, I think that it will exist forever because you can´t change the of everyone´s mentality. We are now used to seeing black people or latin people in our countries and that´s why I think that there is less racism nowadays. For example Antonio Banderas said that 25 years ago the only jobs he had been offered were gangster roles, criminal roles and so on only because of his race. Now there are a lot of latinos or black stars and not only for these types of roles.

In the second video the example I´m going to talk about is the example of Bisa who said that at the age of 16 as he was walking down the street with his brother the police arrested them agresively. I think that they were only arrested because of the colour of their skin and not because of anything they had done.
And in the last video I´m going to talk about the case of the mother that said that between her daughters there was racism from one among the other because it has a darker skin and O think that its so sad to think that there is not only racism in the streets or schools but also in your own house. And also I like to talk about the man that sais that because of his white appereance he had more privileges than the people of his same race only because of the darker or lighter colour of their skin.
